Data Deletion Request
You have the right to delete your personal data from OpenMat at any time. This page explains every method available, exactly what gets deleted, what is legally retained, and how long it all takes.

1 Your Right to Deletion
Under applicable privacy laws including the GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA/CPRA (California), LGPD (Brazil), and PIPEDA (Canada), you have the right to request the deletion of your personal data.
OpenMat honors this right for all users worldwide, regardless of where you are located. You do not need to cite a specific law to request deletion β if you want your data deleted, we will delete it.
Your right to deletion covers:
- All personal information associated with your account.
- All training data, session logs, and personal content you have created.
- All community posts, photos, and messages.
- Your profile, handle, and account credentials.
- All locally stored data on your device (via in-app reset).
Deletion is permanent and irreversible. We cannot recover your data after the deletion process completes. Please export your data first if you want to keep a copy.
2 Export Your Data First
Before deleting your account, we strongly recommend exporting your training data. Once deletion is processed, your data cannot be recovered under any circumstances.
Download Everything You've Logged
Your full training history, session logs, XP records, achievements, weight logs, gear records, and profile β exported as a portable JSON file you own forever.
How to export from the app:

Open OpenMat
Log in to your account and navigate to the app.

Go to Account β Settings
Tap your profile avatar in the header, then tap Settings.

Tap "Export Data"
Find the Export Data option under the Data & Privacy section.

Download Your JSON File
Tap Download and save the file to your device. The file is named
openmat-[date].jsonand can be opened in any text editor or imported back into OpenMat in the future.
Alternatively, email privacy@openmat.ai with subject "Data Export Request" and we will prepare and send you a download link within 5 business days.
3 Deletion Methods
You can request deletion through three methods. All are equally valid and will result in full account deletion:
In-App Deletion
Delete directly from the app. No waiting for a response β your account is queued for deletion immediately and a confirmation email is sent automatically.
Email Request
Send a deletion request to our privacy team. We verify your identity and confirm within 5 business days. Useful if you cannot access your account.
Google App Revocation
Revoke OpenMat's access to your Google account at myaccount.google.com. Note: this revokes Google access only β you must also use one of the above methods to delete OpenMat data.
Authorized Agent
A parent, guardian, or authorized representative can request deletion on your behalf. They must provide written authorization and verify their own identity.
4 Step-by-Step Instructions
Method A β In-App (Recommended)

Export your data (optional but recommended)
Follow the export steps in Section 2 above to save a copy of your training history before deleting.

Open Settings
Tap your avatar in the app header β Settings β Account Settings.

Tap "Delete Account"
Scroll to the bottom of Account Settings and tap Delete Account. This option is always available β it is never hidden.

Read the confirmation screen
A screen will list exactly what will be deleted and what will be retained (payment records only). Read it carefully.

Type your @handle to confirm
Type your
@handleexactly as shown to confirm you understand the deletion is permanent. This prevents accidental deletion. -
Tap "Permanently Delete My Account"
Your account is immediately queued for deletion. You will be logged out and receive a confirmation email within 15 minutes.
Method B β Email Request

Send an email to privacy@openmat.ai
Use the subject line: "Data Deletion Request β @yourhandle"

Include your account information
Include your registered email address and @handle. If you used Google Sign-In, include the Google email address you used.

Verify your identity
We will send a verification email to your registered address. Click the verification link to confirm the request. This prevents unauthorized deletion of your account.

Receive confirmation
Once verified, we will confirm the deletion request in writing and provide a reference number. Deletion completes within 30 days.

Receive final confirmation
We will email you once all data has been permanently deleted from our systems and backups.
5 What Gets Deleted
The following data is permanently and irreversibly deleted from all our systems and backups within 30 days of your deletion request being confirmed:

6 What We Are Required to Retain
A small amount of data must be retained after account deletion for legal and regulatory compliance. This data is stored securely, isolated from active user data, and permanently deleted when the retention period expires.

7 Deletion Timeline
Here is exactly what happens after you submit a deletion request:

8 Effect of Deletion
Deleting your account has the following permanent consequences. Please read these carefully before proceeding:
Permanent Consequences of Account Deletion
- Your entire training history β every session, every XP point, every streak β is permanently gone. It cannot be restored.
- Your @handle is released and may be claimed by another user after 90 days.
- Any Founding Member status is permanently forfeited and cannot be recovered β even if you re-register with the same email.
- Your Mat Points balance is forfeited. Mat Points are non-refundable.
- Any active subscription is cancelled at the end of the current billing period. No partial refund is issued for unused time.
- All messages you sent to other users will be deleted from your side. Copies may remain in the recipients' message history.
- Your community posts and photos are deleted. Reactions and comments by other users referencing your posts are also removed.
- Belt assessments and partner ratings you received are deleted from your record.
- If you are connected to an academy as a student, your attendance and progress records within that academy are also deleted.
- If you are a Coach or Academy Owner, your student management data, class records, and academy configuration are also deleted.
9 Deactivation vs Deletion
If you just need a break from OpenMat but don't want to permanently lose your data, temporary deactivation may be a better option than full deletion.

10 Google Sign-In Users
If you registered or signed in to OpenMat using Google OAuth, there are two separate steps to fully remove your data:

Delete your OpenMat account
Use one of the deletion methods in Section 3 above. This deletes all your OpenMat data from our servers.

Revoke OpenMat's Google access
Visit myaccount.google.com/permissions, find OpenMat in your connected apps, and click Remove Access. This revokes our ability to request your Google profile data in any future sign-in attempt.
Note that revoking Google access alone does not delete your OpenMat account or data. You must complete both steps for full data removal.
We do not store your Google OAuth access token or refresh token after the sign-in process completes. The only Google data we retain in your account is your profile picture URL, name, and email address β all of which are deleted with your OpenMat account.
11 Minors & Parental Requests
Parents and legal guardians of users under 18 may request deletion of their child's account and data on their behalf.
For users under 13: If you believe a child under 13 has created an OpenMat account without verifiable parental consent, please contact us immediately at privacy@openmat.ai with subject "COPPA Deletion Request." We will prioritize this and delete the account within 5 business days.
For users 13β17: Parents or legal guardians may submit a deletion request on behalf of a minor by emailing privacy@openmat.ai with:
- The minor's @handle and registered email address.
- Proof of parental or legal guardianship (e.g., birth certificate, legal guardianship document).
- A statement confirming you are requesting deletion on behalf of the minor.
We will verify the request and process it within the standard 30-day timeline.
12 Verified Identity Requirement
To protect against unauthorized deletion of your account, we are required to verify your identity before processing any email-based deletion request. We will not delete an account based solely on an unverified email request.
How we verify identity:
- For email requests: we send a verification link to the email address registered with the account. You must click the link within 48 hours.
- For in-app deletion: you must be actively logged in to the account and type your @handle as confirmation.
- For authorized agent requests: we require written authorization from the account holder plus government-issued ID of the agent, submitted securely to privacy@openmat.ai.
We will not ask you for your password, full payment card details, or government ID number as part of the verification process for standard deletion requests.
